Lady Gaga & R. Kelly Not Performing in Selma This Weekend

Despite earlier reports from local Alabama media, neither Lady Gaga nor R. Kelly will perform in Selma this weekend to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Selma-to-Montgomery march. Gaga's touring manager confirmed the singer has no knowledge of her purported performance, and a rep for R. Kelly confirmed the same to Billboard. Al.com, which originally reported the news, now reports the executive director of the Selma to Montgomery 50th Commemoration Foundation as saying, "They [Gaga and R. Kelly] are not confirmed but tentative." A rep for Gaga tells Billboard they've issued a cease-and-desist notice to the Alabama promoter.
March 3 Post: On Saturday, President Obama will give a speech to commemorate the anniversary of the Selma-to-Montgomery march (which is marked each year by the Annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee).
If the president of the United States isn't enough of an A-lister for you, the event has just added more names: Lady Gaga and R. Kelly. The two will reportedly perform after Obama speech, but we're guessing they won't reprise their uber-sexual duet "Do What U Want" this weekend.
